Starch indicator is used to indicate whether or not a successful starch conversion has taken place. 

Instructions: 

1. Place a small amount of your sample onto a white surface
2. Place a few drops of the indicator on top of the sample 
3. Note if any colour changes have occured

Results: 

• Positive starch test (starches are present): The indicator will change from a light brown colour to a blue/black colour 
• Negative starch tests (no starches are present): The indicator will remain a light brown colour.
