This type of boiler is primarily utilized for distilling liquids without solid substances. Its heating elements make direct contact with the contents inside the boiler, creating a potential hazard in the presence of solids.

Pot belly style boilers has the advantages of:

• Lower overall height than upright boilers
• Bigger surface area for evaporation (resulting in better quality distillate) than upright boilers.
